Uruguay - Customs-Hub
ProfileCustoms-hub, based in Uruguay, is the result of years of accumulated experience in the Customs and Single Window sectors. We focus on providing specific solutions for projects that implement the World Customs Organization (WCO) Data Model. Our mission is to ensure that efforts to modernize border crossings align with this essential global data standard.

To achieve this, we offer solutions by enhancing the understanding of the WCO Data Model and providing practical and specific tools for its implementation.

Our professional and consolidated experience has enabled us to participate in the technical teams of the WCO itself, acting as subject matter experts and contributing to the evolution of the WCO Data Model. This expertise has allowed us to collaborate with the governments of Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Mauritius, and Pakistan, assisting them in tailoring the model to their unique business needs. Recognizing the specific challenges and demands in the region for adopting this international standard, we developed a specialized product.

Customs-hub empowers Customs, Single Window initiatives, and foreign trade projects (including those in the private sector) to create their own specific variations of the WCO Data Model without requiring the hiring of international experts. This approach ensures the quality of implementations and the long-term maintainability of the solutions developed. Our model variations have been successfully adopted by Customs Administrations across the region.

Additionally, we provide custom brokers with a specialized tool that enables them to make customs declarations compliant with the WCO standard. This ensures data portability among all actors in the logistics chain, offering solutions that not only address control and regulation needs but also simplify the customs declaration process.

Our extensive regional experience with the WCO Data Model has earned us recognition from the Regional Logistics Sector as the Latin American benchmark on this subject. We actively collaborate with the WCO to promote the data model by organizing events and facilitating meetings among its users.

Our solutions and consultancy services have been successfully implemented in Customs agencies in Uruguay, Brazil, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mauritius, and Pakistan. Moreover, our expertise has been instrumental in optimizing the operations of Single Window systems in Costa Rica and Argentina.

In this way, Customs-hub serves as an excellent ally, ensuring that investments in Customs and Single Window solutions yield quick returns and drive the digitization of the entire logistics chain.

Profile
On the 16th of September 2019, the Lithuanian Customs Practitioners Association started its activities that were defined in the initial meeting by seven companies, which represent various business sectors: customs and excise warehouses, rail and road transport, technical maintenance services, lawyers, customs brokers. The activities:

Legislation

There are situations, when changes to customs legislation are unexpected for businesses, both in terms of the content changes and in terms of new releases or elimination. The Customs Practitioners Association aims to minimize such situations, maximize business awareness of customs law and make the application of legislation as clear as possible.

The Association participates in the work of the Customs Consultative Committee. The Committee examines customs legislation, its practical application, projects of legal acts and questions relevant to businesses.

Conferences
Legislation is constantly changing at both European Union and national level, and the courts are providing new interpretations of the application in practice. The Customs Practitioners Association holds conferences twice a year (early December and June) to inform participants about current developments, discuss business issues and provide the opportunity to make new and maintain current contacts among customs practitioners.

Customs broker course
The profession of a customs broker is not only interesting but also in demand, due to the growing volume of customs procedures (due to Brexit, changes in VAT and other reasons). The Lithuanian Customs Practitioners Association, in cooperation with Vytautas Magnus University and the University of Applied Social Sciences, invites to acquire the qualification of a customs representative by studying online (in Lithuanian).

Interpersonal communication
The most valuable knowledge is gained by solving practical situations. By communicating with one another we exchange information on issues that arise in our daily work, situations that have to be solved and ways to solve them.

International cooperation
International business has to deal with customs issues in different countries. Having a partner network helps to find the right solutions faster. The Customs Practitioners Association cooperates with similar associations in other countries.
